Algerian troops will participate tonight in a night tactical exercise in the heart of the great Sahara desert, specifically in Tindouf (where the Polisario Front camps are located), an Algerian province located in the southwest on the borders with Morocco and near the Saharawi region of Mahbes. It is precisely in this area where part of the US-Morocco military exercises known as Africa-Lion will take place.
The Algerian Defense has announced that large-scale night tactical exercises will be carried out with the participation of fighter planes, helicopters and war tanks in the province of Tindouf according to the Algerian Defense in a statement, which is collected by the Saharawi media.
The grouping of aviation and air defense forces are in full combat readiness in connection with the surprise inspection of combat readiness of the southern sector in Tindouf, initiated by decision of the deputy defense minister chief of staff of Algeria, lieutenant-general, Siad Chengiha. According to the same source, the two-day maneuvers represent a preliminary step for the 2021-2022 strategic exercises.
The maneuvers will take place from today until Wednesday in the southwestern sector a few kilometers from the border with Morocco, as well as in the surroundings of the Tindouf region. “During military exercises the degree of preparation of the military commanders to control groups of combined arms will be verified. For the commanders it will be a practice of preparing and executing military operations”, explained the Algerian Vice Ministry of Defense.
