A woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of her stepson, Arthur, 6, in the UK. Both she and her partner and father of the minor were accused for the death of the little one but they faced different charges. The man has been acquitted of the crime of murder, but has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
The woman has been convicted of torture and beat to the kid. Besides, it also made him starve. The judge records that both adults gave the little boy plates loaded with salt and left him alone for more than 14 hours a day in a deplorable regime during the last months of the minor’s life, as well as degrading punishments.
In addition, according to ‘Daily Mail’, the woman showed no regret at no point in the trial. Once the sentence is confirmed, he will have to spend a minimum of 29 years in prison and after that time the sentence will be reviewed to determine if he can be released on parole.
It was the father who had custody of the child after his mother was found guilty of another murder in 2019. However, the father has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter, which carries a sentence of 21 years in jail. The couple exchanged messages in derogatory terms towards the boy.
The minor asked for help
Due to the continuous harassment suffered, the child under 6 years he begged his paternal uncles for help and his ‘babysitter’. According to the autopsy, Arthur died due to a head injury caused by an adult blow and also had various bruises all over his body. The little boy suffered cardiac arrest and, after being resuscitated, ended up dying at Birmingham Children’s Hospital due to the severity of the injuries.
It was the paternal grandmother who gave part to the social services and to the Police. The case has shocked and outraged English society. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has assured that “no child should ever suffer” as Arthur did and has assured that an investigation will be carried out to determine what mechanisms they failed.
