Lorenzo Santolino (Sherco) the fourth stage of the Dakar, disputed between Al Qaisumah and Riyadh, in fifth position after a rhythm that helped him “to gain confidence” and rises, in the provisional general classification, to fourth place 10 minutes and 28 minutes behind the leader, the British Sam Sunderland (Gas Gas).
“A positive stage. It is good to have gone today at this rate to gain confidence. I feel good on the bike; we have improved in the fast zones regarding stability. The team is working hard, motivated by the Dakar. The evolutions of each year are being positive ”, he commented upon arrival at the camp.
“A very long day. I’ve been at a good pace most of the time. Very fast tracks and a navigation to be concentrated, but I hoped that there would be some more complicated point; Everything has been quite fluid ”, he analyzed about the special.
A day in which he took advantage of the speed on the track of Italian Danilo Petrucci (Tech 3 KTM), third on the stage on his Dakar debut after ten seasons in MotoGP.
“I started well, but at kilometer 80 or so Petrucci caught up with me, he had a very good pace, and I took the opportunity to get with him and have a good reference. He drove very well and I was able to be with him. When there was a fast zone he would shoot and when it was a navigation zone I would shoot in front ”, he explained.
