Ukraine, despite the situation in which it lives, has decided not to be intimidated by the Russian invader and has gone a step further trying to show Moscow that they can strike at the heart of its military installations with their unmanned aircraft, which They have jumped all the anti-aircraft defenses on several occasions and hundreds of kilometers have slipped past them. Although these are not very destructive attacks, they do reveal a Russia incapable of stopping these drones.
Now, not without a lot of humor, they have decided to launch an even bigger ordeal and Volodymyr Yatsenko, the co-founder of Monobank, the first mobile apps-only bank in Ukraine, and developer of the Dovbush drone, has launched a contest for a drone to land on Moscow’s Red Square on May 9. The offer is open to Ukrainian drone developers with a prize fund of 20 million hryvnias, almost half a million euros.
“I am officially giving an award to a Ukrainian UAV manufacturer, whose plane, with the help of the military, of course, will fly and land on Red Square in Moscow on May 9,” Yatsenko wrote on social media. . “I hope that this amount will be divided fairly between the manufacturer and the military operators who successfully complete the task and will go towards the improvement of the UAV.”
One of the conditions of the challenge is that some Ukrainian patriotic slogan can be read on the wings of the drone that flies to Red Square, for example, “Glory to Ukraine”, “Glory to the heroes”, etc. According to Yatsenko, this is necessary in order to understand which drone of which manufacturer has reached the destination, and which has failed.
The Dovbush drone, developed by him, will also make the flight to the capital of the aggressor country, but out of competition.
As previously reported, at the end of February, Russia announced the downing of an allegedly Ukrainian drone in the suburbs of Moscow. Photos capturing that alleged drone were also shared on social media. The Russians speculated that the drone might have lost altitude because the engine ran out of fuel or it hit trees and damaged the wing.
In January, the Russians began installing air defense systems on buildings in central Moscow. The massive deployment of air defense systems may be a response to the potential threat of UAV attacks on strategic objects on the territory of the Russian Federation.
